Hope Restorations Seeks New Associate Director of Development

Hope Restorations is a dynamic and growing nonprofit in Kinston, NC, that helps rehabilitate individuals recovering from addiction and incarceration by providing them with paid employment, professional training, and other support services that help them get back on their feet.  PMA is proud to support their efforts to find a talented manager and fundraiser to join the Leadership Team

The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and seeking investment from new and existing donors and community partners for Hope Restorations.  Working with the Founder and Executive Pastor, the position will serve as a key leader both internally and externally, expanding the community's understanding and support of organization; and building a best-practice development function to support future growth.

Organizational Overview

Hope Restorations ("HR") is Restoring Hope; One Life, One Home, One Neighborhood at a time. HR helps to rehabilitate individuals recovering from addiction and incarceration by providing them with paid employment, professional training, and other support services that help them get back on their feet. Building on our Theory of Change, the HR program provides transformational change that restores hope and healing for these individuals, as well as their families. While in the program, individuals work to rehabilitate deteriorated houses in the community. Through Hope Restorations, community members can learn a new trade while also gaining meaningful employment experience post-incarceration. 

 

Position Overview

Hope Restorations seeks a talented manager and fundraiser to join the Leadership TeamThe Associate Director of Development will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and seeking investment from new and existing donors and community partners to Hope Restorations.  Working with the Founder and Executive Pastor, this position will be responsible for achieving the organization's fundraising goals in pursuit of HR's mission to provide paid employment, training, and other support to adults recovering from addictions or incarceration. The Associate Director of Development will serve as a key leader both internally and externally, representing the values of the organization to the community; expanding the community's understanding and support of organization; and building a best-practice development function to support future growth. 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Fundraising and Development

  • Strengthen and diversify the fundraising program by expanding the HR's donor base (corporate, individual, congregations, associations, grant funders)
  • Help build and oversee the implementation of an aspirational, achievable annual development plan
  • Meet and exceed fundraising goals, as determined annually during the organizational budgeting process
  • Manage public and private grant initiatives
  • Oversee effective strategies for the annual fund: direct mail, online giving, events, and new initiatives
 

Operations and Communications

  • Assist and cooperate with HR executives, managers, and staff as needed to meet organizational objectives
  • Maintain development system(s) and record-keeping procedures to track current and prospective donors and accurately report all fundraising income
  • Support development-related communications with the organizational brand and provide ongoing evaluation of key messaging as it relates to development activity
 

Leadership and Community Relations 

  • Advise and guide the Founder/Executive Pastor on his roles and responsibilities
  • ​​​​​​​Expand HR's community presence through innovative media, social media, online, print, and outreach activities
  • Represent the organization externally in partnership with the Founder/Executive Pastor and board of directors
  • Provide relevant feedback regarding programmatic enhancements and contribute to the organization's planning processes
 

Other Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Assist in the completion of special projects and assume other appropriate duties at the request of the Founder/Executive Pastor

 

Qualifications

  • Understanding and passion for the Hope Restorations mission, programs, and values
  • ​​​​​​​Bachelor's Degree 
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience preferred (in particular: nonprofit management, fundraising, and/or business development) 
  • Knowledge of the Eastern NC philanthropic landscape and experience with social service organizations preferred 
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling and comprehensive to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with fund development databases 
  • Proven history of managing grant process, including applying for grants and reporting 
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies, including social media platforms, preferred 
  • Exceptional energy, relational, and interpersonal skills
